Add known ad/span sites black list by adding them to hosts file for Windows machine.

How to modify the hosts file under MAC OS
Launch Terminal, under Utilities. type sudo nano /etc/hosts and press Return.
Enter your admin password to execute it.
You will now have the hosts file open in the Nano editor. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard, to navigate Edit the host file, or copy the content from known hosts file.
Press Control-O to save the file.
Press Control-X to exit the file
Back to Terminal type sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder to flush out the DNS cache.
Close out Terminal when you're done.

Mổi khi mình vào SlickDeals, mình tạm thời pull hosts file ra khỏi folder ETC.
Trên desktop mình create shortcut to folder c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC.

Cái nầy blacklist những website quản cáo & spam.
Thay vi ad blocker phải scan incoming ads rồi block. Chậm lại loading web page.
Hosts file là "DNS redirect", hướng sites trong blacklist to local machine, không thèm load/scan ads. Như vậy web page load nhanh hơn là dùng ad blocker.

Hosts file nầy mình update thường xuyên khi gặp phải ad/spam sites. Mổi lần thấy ads chướng mắt -> open Developer mode trong browser -> check Network tab -> look for site/domain serving ads -> bỏ site/domain vô hosts file.

Có vài browser plugin như Block Site dùng cách tương tự:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/block-website/
Khi mình test, bỏ thêm sites vào, thì có nhiều sites vẩn show ads. Rỏ ràng là plugin nầy có ăn nhậu với vài ads site. Plugin nầy easy cho người dùng, nhưng không chác ăn hơn mình blacklist qua hosts file.

1. Download files: hosts & Registry-HOSTS.reg
2. Copy hosts file to c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc -> At prompt, choose "yes" to overwrite existing files
3. Double click on Registry-HOSTS.reg --> At prompt to Merge registry, click OK
4. Reboot machine.

Hosts file nầy có 1,640 YouTube ad sites. Đở in between ads, không được 100% vì YT cứ add new ad sites. It's a cat-and-mouse game.
Don't want to pay for YT Premium để tránh ads  ;-)

Nhân tiện, anh xin "bổ xung" vào vụ HOSTS file này nha.
Cái hosts file này (no extension) là 1 control file mà windows ngăn chặn access VÀO và ​​RA

Cac addresses mà Alpha cho trong his host file  chỉ là chặn đường vào của các site đó mà thôi. Mình xưa nay còn chặn đường ra của rất nhiều websites, nhất là nhưng thằng "gián diệp" (spy) của Adobe ... mấy thằng gián diệp này chạy vào các program của chủ nó và check  license validity, xong rồi chúng chạy về nhà chủ nó báo cáo, nếu Sẻial number is "outdated" hoặc do keygen gểnnerated thì dâtbase của chủ nó biết là hàng qua mặt nên deactivate cái íntalled program trong máy của mình, và cho vào black list chẳng hạn, Adobe là chúa trùm của vụ này.

Vì thế, mình ĐÃ có 1 cái hosts file và qua nhưng ngày rộng tháng dài, mình DÃ BLOCK các webs, bây giờ nếu mình dùng cái hosts của anh alpha và OVERWRITE cái current HOSTS có sẵn thì nhưng cái mình block sẽ GONE và các spy (out) sẽ lại làm mưa làm gió với mình. CHo nên, thay vì overwrite hosts file của anh Alpha, thì mình nên:

1- Copy toan bo contain của new hosts file rồi PASTE vào phần sau của curent hosts file có sẵn, như thế chỉ "ADD" thêm các ngăn chặn (từ ngoài vào) chứ khong xoá bỏ những ngăn chặn mà mình đạ edit từ trước đến nay.

2- Copy toàn bộ nội dung của hosts file của mình rồi paste vào cái hosts của anh Alpha, sau đó dùng cái hosts tổng hợp dể replace cài hiện tại, tòm lạ, các 1 hay 2 đều là combined cả 2 hosts file thôi.

Đừng e ngại là nếu có duplicate lines, nếu 1 line có sẵn mà mình duplicate nó thì windows cũng không complain gì hết.

Nhân tiện mình paste ra dây nhưng ngan chặn mà minh dang có trong hosts file nhà:

Adress 127.0.0.1 là chính máy của mình, khi thằng utility activate.adobe.com muốn chạy về nhà nó thì nó đụng ngay 192.0.0.1 nên tự quay lại máy của nhà mình, không ra được, đó là ý nghĩa của từng line.

Bạn check xem trong máy bạn có xài cái gì thì dùng từng line này mà block spy của nó. Hoặc giản d5 nhất là copy nguyen con cho vào hosts, thừa hoac duplicate đâu có sao.

ANh combined cả 2 cái của em và của anh cũng được, nhưng anh giải thích để các em ấy biết mà tự làm, vì ngoài cái adobe và acronis mà anh block, buết dâu họ có xài nhưng gì khác, và vì thế mỗi người xài các util khác nhau thì hosts của anh cũng đau biết hết. CHi bằng giải thích và chỉ cho họ thì họ edit cho riêng họ thôi,

ACE nào cần bổ túc hosts file:

1. Thay đổi permission của hosts file trong folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc để dể edit & save hosts file cho tương lai:
    a. Right click on hosts file --> select Properties 
    b. Select "Security" tab
    c. Click on Edit button
    d. Click on Users to hightlight --> check mark "Full Control" --> click OK --> click OK

2. To edit hosts file:
    a. Right click on hosts file --> select Open With --> select Notepad
    b. Khi edit xong, save file

Nếu không change permission cho hosts file thì sau step #2 sẽ không thể save lại trong folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc vì cần admin [default] permission.

Chỉ cần làm step #1 lần đầu, sau đó cứ step #2 mà edit hosts file.

Edit hosts file: ACE nào đả có sites riêng tron hosts file thì chỉ cần append/copy line texts từ hosts file củ qua hosts file mới, rồi bỏ hosts file mới vào C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
